Pack 85 Committee Meeting1/8/12

Present:  Janna Arnold, Gary Barb, Chris Dellinger, Anthony Heisey, Tony Kern, Corinne Kern, Hank Morrow, Sabrina Morrow, Nathan Ott, Stephanie Sampson, Susan Sharp, Kelly Tetkoskie, Bill Troutman

Winter Camp at Milton Grove,January 14-15, 2012:  Gary Barb reported that so far, approximately 24 people have signed up.  Building will open atnoon.  Corinne Kern will present on earning the music belt loop at approximately2:30pm.  Dinner will be at5:30pm.  The pack is not charged to use the clubhouse.

            Signups:          Rechartering - $20, includes a Pinewood Derby car kit

                                    Boys Life Magazine - $12

                                    Blue and Gold Banquet - $5 per person 12 and older, cubs and all

children under 12 are free

                                    Summer Camp - $25 deposit for either 3 Day Resident Cub June

18-20, 2012; 5 Day WebelosJuly 15-20, 2012; or Pack CampJuly 2-6, 2012

                                    Roger B. Tawney sleepover onApril 20-21, 2012– no deposit at

this time, deposit to be collected at the first February den meeting.  (question from Susan- I have an approximate cost of $50.  Do we have a definite cost yet?  Also, what is the deposit amount and the due date for final payment?)

            Blue and Gold Banquet:  after signup to attend, Gary Barb will put a volunteer

signup on the website.  Volunteers will be needed for set up and tear down.

            Awards:  den leaders should give their award info to Heather Liskey by1/25/12. 

Rank awards will be given out at the Blue and Gold banquet, all other awards at the January pack meeting.

            Skit:  ?

Fundraiser/Buy Out:  there are currently about 10 boys who neither sold items nor paid the buy out amount.  After rechartering, Andy Gladfelter and Chris Dellinger will determine if any of those 10 boys rejoined the pack and send reminder letters.  Consequence of not participating in the fundraiser/buy out is that the scout will be ineligible to receive awards.

Pinewood Derby:  Will be held March 3, 2012.  Dan Schaffer is in charge.  Parents/sibling/outgoing Webelos who wish to participate may purchase a kit for $5.  Lowe’s holds Pinewood Derby clinics- dates are 1/21/12, 2/4/12and 2/18/12.  Clinics are free and run from 11amto 1pm.  For more information, visit www.DremelDerby.com.

An adult leader is needed to assist with summer camps.  This person will be in charge of the medical forms and will be the point of contact with camp staff.  Contact Andy Gladfelter or Chris Dellinger if interested.

Friends of Scouting:  Corinne Kern will present on Friends of Scouting campaign at the Pinewood Derby on3/3/12.

Tony Kern gave a report from Roundtable regarding scout liability insurance.  According to the attorney who presented, if a person is following the rules and their training and not committing a crime, they are covered by the Scout insurance.  If the accident occurs in a private car, the car owner’s insurance is primary, followed by the Scout insurance.

Treasurer’s Report:  Janna Arnold reported that there is currently $4,608.97 in the account.  The roller skating activity took in $41.33 more than expenses.  Janna would like to have the bank information transferred over to the incoming treasurer by February.

Secretary’s Report:  no comments.
